Chairman of Abilities Tennis
Derrick started playing tennis in the 1970s. Married in 1985 and played in Houston, Texas, until children were born in the 1990s. He took a respite from tennis to help raise their two daughters. Resumed playing, but a complication from surgery resulted in his right leg being amputated below the knee. He continues to hit with his wife, who is a very active ENO league player. They play by standard USTA rules, and he occasionally wins a game or two. Having a disability himself, Derrick is interested in sustainable adaptive tennis programs for those with physical and mental disabilities. He would like to play competitive tennis.
Derrick is retired from an environmental protection career; he lives in Morrisville with his wife, Pamela. They have two daughters, Samantha and Camille.
