It's that time of year again! Come out and join us for the 6th Annual Althea Gibson Memorial Tournament. This tournament not only honors the legacy of tennis trailblazer Althea Gibson, but it also serves as a reminder of our commitment to inclusiveness in the Durham tennis community.

Come out and join us for the 5th Annual Althea Gibson Memorial Tournament at Southern Boundaries Park on September 13 and September 14, 2025. The two-day tournament will not only honor the legacy of tennis trailblazer Althea Gibson, the first African American to win a Grand Slam title, but it also serves as a reminder of our commitment to inclusiveness in the Durham tennis community.

Format: Women's and Men's Doubles
Play: 8-Game Pro Sets
Matches: Each team will play a minimum of 2 matches. This will be a round robin blind draw. Teams with the most points and least games lost move on to the semi-finals.
Levels: Women's 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0+
Men's 3.0, 3.5, 4.0+
Registration Begins: July 13th
Registration Ends: September 7th

Cost: $35 per player ($50 to register for both events)
Portion of the proceeds will go towards assisting underserved youth in Durham County and supporting historically black colleges and universities.
